Project management experienceI am passionate about expanding access to higher education. As the Project Manager for the Academy of Civic Life, I spent three years helping to design and implement a new pre-college program at Stony Brook University that supports high school students from traditionally underserved and disenfranchised populations. In this role, I helped to successfully apply for a three-year $299,765 grant from The Teagle Foundation. I also oversaw the implementation of the program's inaugural year, including managing the program budget and supervising the hiring and onboarding of new staff. All students in the program's first cohort were accepted into college, and the program has since expanded 50%.
I am now a Research Project Assistant with the Center for Inclusive Education at Stony Brook University. In this role, I assist with three externally funded programs that support higher education diversity initiatives: NIH IMSD MERGE T32, the Dr. W. Burghardt Turner Fellowship Program, and the GEM Fellowship Program. Additional professional experiencesI worked as a contractor for the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) through the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History (2013–2014). As an open access online resource, the EOL works to gather, generate, and share scientific information.
